When a customer decides to purchase a gift card, you just swipe a customized card thru your POS terminal. The customer can decide the dollar amount the card will be activated for. When activated the information will be forwarded to the UMS Gift Card Processing server, after which the customer can use the card as a method of payment. You just select "gift card" as the payment mode and simply swipe the gift card thru the terminal as you would a credit card. The terminal will dial into the UMS server to get an approval number for that transaction. A printed receipt will list the authorization code as well as the amount left on the card. If that customer is also a Loyalty customer, the purchased amount can also be transferred to points.
